Angel tree is an annual parish event in November and December that provides the opportunity for parishioners provide Christmas gifts to people in need. St. Peter collaborates with community organizations and identifies the needs of individuals.

Since 2011, St. Peter parish has partnered with Druid Hills Academy, a Pre K -8th grade school located near downtown.
Druid Hills has been designated a 100% poverty school. Our mission is to support the students, teachers and staff, and families of Druid Hills through many initiatives.

Girl Scouts meet at the St. Peter Church campus. Troops include:
- Daisies (K-1 grade)
- Brownies (2-3 grade)
- Juniors (4-5 grade)
- Cadettes (6-8 grade)
- Older scouts (9-12 grade)
Meeting times and location varies. The Girl Scouting program depends on adult volunteers, so please plan to be part a troop - building girls of Courage, Confidence & Character! We will train new leaders and support the new troops throughout the year.
Meetings/activities are coordinated by Joanne Shea.

Participate in building affordable homes in our community!Getting involved in the building process of Habitat for Humanity homes is one of the many ways we respond to the Apostolic Preferences: to walk with our neighbors, collaborate in care for our common home, and journey with youth for a hope-filled future.
The parish often sponsors a build day.

The Homeless Relief Ministry assists Supportive Housing Communities in furnishing apartments for men, women, and families moving out of homelessness. HRM is a combined ministry of the parishes of St. Matthew, St. Peter, and St. Vincent de Paul Churches.

St. Peter Refugee Mentoring team works with Catholic Charities of the Charlotte Diocese to welcome and mentor refugee families that are being resettled in Charlotte.
Please consider being a part of a team to welcome our refugees. They are in great need of our support and a friendly and compassionate face.- 3-6 month commitment to help them learn about our country and culture
- No skills are required except a loving and kind heart

Since 1996, St. Peter Church has partnered with Room In the Inn to provide shelter and food for our homeless neighbors on Tuesday nights during the winter months, December 1 - March 31.
St. Peter’s “RITI ministry” offers:- Drivers to transport our neighbors from the Urban Ministry to Biss Hall for a warm safe place to sleep.
- Host Teams to prepare, serve, and share dinner with conversation and compassion.
- Overnight team (St. Peter Men’s Group) yo chaperone, distribute clothing, organize showers, serve breakfast and distribute bag lunches (made by our host team the day before).
- “Rooster Team” (arrives in the morning) to assist with organization, clean up and acknowledge the neighbors as they exit the safe shelter of St. Peter.

Feeding our neighbors

The role of a “Caring Cook” is to prepare (or purchase) a meal and deliver it to a parishioner experiencing illness and is homebound. Recipients need not be unable to cook, just in need of a little care and concern.
Caring Cooks also provide meals to our St. Peter Jesuits two nights per week.- To request this service for a parish member in need, please call the parish office at 704.332.2901.

A group of St. Peter members serve at the uptown Charlotte pantry on the third Friday of the month from 12:30 pm-3:00 pm. (The uptown Charlotte pantry is located at First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Trade St. Charlotte, NC 28202.)
If you would like to participate at the pantry during the third Friday, submit a time and talent form and we will forward your contact information to our Ministry Lead.
About Nourish Up:Nourish Up provides groceries and meals through a network of food pantries and as the primary Meals on Wheels program for Mecklenburg County.
Nourish Up is a non-profit and non-denomination organization established to help neighbors who are having financial difficulty. Nourish Up provides a week’s worth of nutritionally balanced groceries to individuals and families in a short-term crisis through the network of food pantries.

There are four opportunities to prepare and serve a meal to our homeless neighbors at different Roof Above locations:
The first, third, and fifth Saturdays for lunch at the Day Services Center – Roof Above:
Your time commitment is two hours and the opportunity for fellowship is unlimited. We arrive at 5:00 to prepare the meal, serve at 6:00 and finish at 7:00.
