Congratulations on being chosen for the important role of godparent/sponsor.
If you have been asked to be a godparent or confirmation sponsor, you will need a Letter of Good Standing (also known as a Certificate of Eligibility). To receive the letter, you need to meet specific requirements.
St. Peter Godparent/Sponsor Eligibility Requirements To be eligible to be a godparent/sponsor, you must fulfill these requirements:
Be a registered parishioner of St. Peter for three months or longer
Attend Mass regularly and participate in the sacraments
Serve the parish by using your gifts of time, talent and treasure
Participate in parish opportunities for spiritual growth.
If the parish has provided you with its own eligibility form that must be completed Do not use the Letter of Good Standing form request. Just complete the form you received from the other church and then scan a copy. Email the completed scanned form to the appropriate person at St. Peter:
Please allow two weeks for your request to be processed. ("Processing" does not mean the Letter of Good Standing or Certificate of Eligibility will be received in the mail at the Church within two weeks.)
